MIP is part of the World Internet Project(WIP),one of the largest studies on the Internet in the World, as well as the member of the Asia Pacific Internet Research Alliance(APIRA). This project is a longitudinal study of a representative sample from the Macao population, focusing on the relation between new communication technologies and society. Our purpose is to understand the use of the Internet and its influence on our behaviors,habits and need. Since 2001, the project has been investigating the usage of the Internet and other information communication technologies and their impact. Eight large-scale random sampling telephone surveys have been conducted over the past nine years. As a result, a Statistical Report on Macao Internet Use has been published annually from 2003.
The Macao Association for Internet Research (MAIR) is a non-profit organization which aims to conduct academic research and advocate the development of the Internet in Macao. It adopts scientific methods from an objective angle to study the usage and impact of the Internet and other ICTs. In addition, it organizes and participates in various promotional activities of development of the Internet. Moreover, it aims to enhance the research standard and foster development of Internet research via building up connections and cooperation with the rest of the world. |
