From the accumulated survey and documented data, we have constructed the indicators of information communication technologies (ICT) in the form of booklet published annually since 2007. The publication aims at presenting the public with a trajectory picture of the ICT development and usage in Macao. The major ICT indicators include oversea bandwidth, penetration rate of telephones, mobile phones, computers and the Internet, the Internet use pattern, digital divide index, perception of the Internet and so forth.

For example, by December 2007, the total bandwidth to the overseas reached 4,200Mbps, of which 32Mbps were mostly distributed to Hong Kong, followed by 8Mbps to the US and China, and the remaining to other countries and regions in the world. Macao residents spent most of their online time on information acquisition, instant messaging and online news reading. However, among public institutions and traditional media, the residents rated the Internet as the least trusted medium (Cheong, 2007).
