Previous results show that between 19% and 37% of the Internet users claimed that using the Internet would increase their time spent on interpersonal communication and social connection while shortening the duration spent on using other media such as newspaper, magazine, radio and TV. However, a small proportion of users claimed that the time spent on other media would increase. Users reflected that the time spent on watching TV is mostly affected. In addition, there are major differences of the behavior and perception of the Internet between Internet users and non-users. Users and non-users agree that the Internet helps increase efficiency partly or greatly in the field of work or study, whereas in other areas, such as sociability and family functioning, they do not see great changes brought about by using the Internet (Cheong, 2002; 2007).
