“Generative AI” has swept the globe recently, emerging as one of the most captivating topics in the global technology sector. Macao has also welcomed opportunities for application and innovation in this field. Against this backdrop, to understand the public’s awareness, usage, and expectations of “Generative AI” in Macao, the Macao Association for Internet Research (MAIR) conducted a random telephone survey in January 2024 among 731 residents aged 6-84 in Macao. The survey results were combined with research data from other global institutions to compile this report, aiming to popularize the concept and functionality of “Generative AI”, understand its development trends globally and in Macao, enhance public understanding and application capabilities of AI technology, and provide a reference for Macao’s smart city construction and economic diversification.
